Botany was introduced as subject in year 1948 in intermediate class.P.G.class was started in year 1955 with 20 seat. At present total 30 seat are available for students with two special paper Plant Pathology and Plant Ecology.Botany Department is also have very rich history regarding research in various field of Botany. More than 35 student completed there research. M.Phil class was also run till 2014.The department have a culture of producing renowned scholars who contributed in environment protection. One such name was Dr. Laxmikant Dadheech Paryavaranvid who received Rastrapati Award .Now Dr. Neerja Shrivastava is carrying on the tradition. Recently got the state level Award for her commendable work. Many students of department are enjoying good positions as teachers,subject experts and researchers in renowned institutes .The department having a Botanical Garden with more than 60 variety of various rare and medicinal plants.Apart from teaching, the department also maintains museum with enormous collection of specimens and a herbarium also.The Department also regularly organises conferences , seminar and field trip.These activities help students in keeping themselves abreast of current developments and frontiers of research in the subject discipline and also help in developing organisational skills
