HISTORY

This prestigious institute of higher education was established in 1950 as an intermediate college. Initially known as Government College, Banswara. The college is a pioneering institution in the districts and for many years remained only one in the field of higher education till another college for women came into existence in 1995-96 in the district. The college was upgraded into Degree College in 1957 and into P.G. College in 1977. Today the college provides the facility of higher education in all three disciplines at post graduate level. Apart from that college admission has been making vigorous efforts to create a research friendly atmosphere on the campus. As a result of which a number of faculty members are acting as supervisors to a number of research scholars working under them. Thus the institution has gone a long way since it came into existence some 68 years ago.

It is heartening to see that a large number of tribal students are getting their desired education from this institution. The total number of registered students in the college at present is about 6000 out of which almost 80% students come from the tribal community and interestingly enough a large number of tribal girls are getting benefit of quality education here
