DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS

                      The department has been running postgraduate classes from the early seventies and undergraduate has been a regular feature of the department since 1945. From 2009, the M. Phil. is available to interested students under the Self Financing Scheme. 

                     Right now, undergraduate classes have 15 sections, whereas intake in postgraduate semester first is of 30 students. The very high cut off percentage in the postgraduate semester first reflects that the bright students are coming in the department for higher studies. A few students of postgraduate are getting INSPIRE FELLOWSHIP whereas Ekbote Scholarship, funded by The Old Boys Association, is available to postgraduate previous and final classes toppers of the admission lists. 

                   The student’ seminar has been a regular feature of the department, this seminar session enhances the capability of the students to express themselves and ultimately gives themselves a vent. Department also organises a series of extension lectures by subject experts, it provides the latest development in the field of physics to the students and at the same time they are exposed to eminent personalities of physics.

                  The department has various laboratories and facilities namely nuclear physics, solid state physics, electronics, mechanics, dark room, four undergraduate labs,  smart class room, computer room with broadband connectivity and Wi-Fi etc.
