The Government of Rajasthan has taken a policy decision for development and upliftment of women through education; according to this in 1996 at Sawai Mathopur district headquarters, Government Girls College was established.

At present the college is being run in a newly constructed building. The State Government has allotted 2.5 ha. land . The State Government has sanctioned Rs. 2 crore for the same.The constructed area is 1.2 hect. The new site is nearby south block of Government P.G. College. The  college building  is well connected through the means of transportation.
