          Presently, the college is a premier institution in academics for educating the students for the degrees of Bachelors, Masters, M.Phil and Ph.D in various disciplines.

Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Government College, Sri Ganganagar is a pioneer co-educational institution in the region to provide opportunities for education to students coming from rural and economically weaker sections of society in and around Sri Ganganagar. Established as a Secondary School in 1939 by Maharaja Ganga Singh, it was promoted to an Intermediate College in 1946, and a Graduate College in 1954. Presently, it runs several graduates, postgraduate and research studies in diverse disciplines.

The institution aims to educate young individuals to learn to surmount their weaknesses and limitations and set themselves on the way to the discovery of their potentialities of illumination, service and harmony. A substantive part of the enrolment comes from semi-urban and rural locales of the district. They undergo a dynamic and humanizing process of education before stepping into the tough competitive world. The institution encourages dialogic relations between teachers and pupils, taking into consideration their past limitations yet immense intellectual resources. The students are encouraged to rise above their localized milieu and possess a universal approach to become a part of mainstream education. Their limitation of acquiring proficiency in the English language, their lack of confidence, their personalities overcoloured with the local colouring undergo educational conditioning in the institution to finally make them emerge as balanced citizens of the country.
