Presently, the college is a premier institution in academics for educating the students for the degrees of Bachelors, Masters, M.Phil and Ph.D in various disciplines.
Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Government College, Sri Ganganagar is a pioneer co-educational institution in the region to provide opportunities for education to students coming from rural and economically weaker sections of society in and around Sri Ganganagar. Established as a Secondary School in 1939 by Maharaja Ganga Singh, it was promoted to an Intermediate College in 1946, and a Graduate College in 1954. Presently, it runs several graduates, postgraduate and research studies in diverse disciplines.
The institution aims to educate young individuals to learn to surmount their weaknesses and limitations and set themselves on the way to the discovery of their potentialities of illumination, service and harmony. A substantive part of the enrolment comes from semi-urban and rural locales of the district.
