Government College Merta City, is situated in the historic and religious city of Merta. also known as The city of Meera, the ardent devotee of Lord Krishna. The college is located at Gotan road in a very peaceful & serene atmosphere, completely isolated from the hustle-bustle of the city. Founded in 1996,the institution is affiliated to Maharishi Dayanand University, Ajmer, Rajasthan. Since its Foundation the college has witnessed a meteoric rise and is committed to understand the contemporary challenges. It stands like a torch bearer to guide the students to walk on a path that leads to a brighter future.                               The campus area of the college is 30.00 acres. It has an administrative block, Central Library,Seminar hall,25 Class rooms, 3 laboratories,Girls common room,Play grounds and a Parking place for vehicles.                                                 The college library has about 2000 books,20 magazines and 5 Newspapers. In addition, the library also makes available to students the prescribed syllabus & previous years’ university question papers. In the present session the college has 1307 students enrolled.Scolarships are given to students fom economically weaker section of society.The college has smart classrooms, computers with internet facility,OHO, LCD projector etc.The college was established in 1996 with Arts & Commerce faculties,Science faculty was introduced in 1998. The college was recognized by the UGC under sections 2(f) and 12(B) in 12(B) in march 2005. The college was assessed & accredited with grade C+ in 1996.The college addresses the social, cultural, academic and recreational needs of the students. It is conscious of the changing scenario of the society and nation.The prime concern of this institution is to create a good acadmic environment for impacting quality education to students coming from rural background and holistic development of students by inculcating in them values and awareness and Encouraging them to promote their social, cultural and sports skill.This objective of the college is fulfilled  by the highly qualified & committed faculty members including 8 Ph.D holders. the faculty members participate enthusiastically in programmes such a refresher courses,symposia,workshops etc. organized by various Universities.the student of the college also take part in intercollegiate sports,literary & cultural competitions conducted  by MDS & other Universities.

The college aims to provide good academic & disciplined environment to students. Besides academic programmes, the college focuses on overall development of students through various activities conducted in NSS,NCC, women cell ,YDC & ROVER/RANGER. These acitivities include guest lectures,literary & cultural competitions such as debate, extempose, dance, song, poster, slogan, essay etc.The college ensures that the University curriculum is followed in the best of this spirits.
