INTRODUCTION

When the District of Rajsamand was formed in 1991 the only college in the new district was at Nathdwara, catering to the needs of higher education. The need to open another College at  District Headquarter was felt and hence, on 8th July 1994, Government College, Rajsamand was started at Shri Balkrishan Vidya Bhawan Senior Secondary School, Kankroli with the co-operation of local residents and the efforts of the then Collector Mr. Deepak Upreti.

The College shifted to its present campus in August 1998 and since then it is providing quality education to the students of Rajsamand and surrounding areas. It covers an area of 73.6 bigha with built up area of 20000 square feet. At present the student strength is 1988 with 1308 Boys and 680 Girls pursuing their dream of higher education.

Initially, UG classes in Arts and Commerce faculties, were started and from 2000-2001, Faculty of Science became functional.  The session of 2012-13 witnessed the commencement of PG course in ABST. From 2017-18 academic year, post gradute hindi course was offered under self-financing scheme.

Since its inception, the college has been striving for excellence in teaching, community service and overall development of its students. Qualified staff members put in their best efforts to impart education based on the principles of Quality, Quantity and Social Relevance.  Promoting high ethical values and inculcating amongst students a sense of discipline and punctuality are some of the other virtues which we try to develop.

The collge strongly believes in the overall development of the children and hence emphasis on not only the academic cirriculum but also on the extra cirrciuluar activities is focused.

 The college authorities and staff being aware of their social responsibilities play a significant role in the socio-economic development of the students, by implementing activities like NCC, NSS, Scout and Youth Development and also by providing scholarships to backward, underprivileged and socially challenged students.

The College Consists of 2 Post Graduate & 14 Undergraduate Disciplines, spanning all 3 faculties of Arts, Science and Commerce. It is governed by rules and regulations of Directorate of College Education, Jaipur and is also listed under section 2f and 12B of UGC Act 1956.
