Government Shakambhar Post Graducate College, Sambhar Lake. College named on goddess Shakambhari Mata As we consider goddess shakambhari shower her blessing upon the college. The shakambhari Mata was kuldevi of Chouhan dynasty. The Sambhar was the capital of chouhan dynasty. Therefore, the Sambhar is a historical and ancient town. The Sambhar has its own religious importance by Shakambhari Mata Temple, Devyani Sarovar and others.
Sambhar Lake is situated on jaipur jodhpur train track, the nearest railway station is phulera junction station and distance is 6 km. From jaipur, that is capital of rajasthan distance is 70 km. and ajmer that is sufisant dargah nagri distance is 100 km.
The College encompasses 118 Bigha 5 Viswa acre land which was donated by bhamashah in 1968 and constitute a Nagrik Vikas Samiti. The Nagrik Vikas Samiti built this building by public donation. The college has 52 rooms and seven laboratories and two conference hall, rooms are well furnished and laboratories are well equipped and well maintained. Inauguration of this college was in 1969-70 with under Graduate Classes. In 1994-95 Post Graduate Classes were promoted in commerce faculty specially EAFM and leter on, in 1996-97 Post Graduate Classes were promoted in arts faculty specially Political Science Department and in Commerce Faculty ABST and B.Adm. In Present senerio, Post Graduate Classes in Geography, Physics, Botany and Zoolgy in SFS Scheme.
There are 2423 Students in this co-ed College, in which 1546 are girls and boy are 877. There are 30 Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor. All are well qualified and some professor are research supervisor approved by University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. Many Students have awarded Ph.D. Degree under their supervision.
For new building, Rusa Granted 2 Crore Rupees in which one Auditorium with capacity 250 seating arrangement, 2 Smart Class Room which cost is 1 crore and 60 Lakh for Renovation Work, 40 Lakhs for Procurement. The college has own open well for water supply and recently, College has solar power system with Electricity Department of Rajasthan Govt.
The college provides many type of scholarship for enhancement and upliftment of weak sections of society. They are sponsored by Govt. of Rajasthan such as Post Metric Scholarship, C.M. Higher Education Scholarship, Madhvi Chatra, Kali bai & Dev Narayan Scooty Yojana & Other Promotional scheme. College library has approx. 26,000 Books, apart from this, some journals, magazine are provided for students. DELNET facility is also available in college library and library automation is going on.
Sports & Game Deparment is performing very well. There are so many games & sports in the college. Our students are actively participated in all games. Some students got gold medel, silver medel and brozen medels in inter-college competition, inter-univeristy and inter-state & national sports competition.
The college staff is traching all academic subjects which are affiliated by university of rajasthan, jaipur. Apart from this, extra co – curricular programs such as NCC, NSS, Scout. Through NCC programe, we try to develop a feeling of patriotism and nation hood, through NSS & scout programe try to develop a feeling of service of mankinds and preservation of 7 ^t* & ty] taxy] tehu] tkuoj] t;Urh] tuuh ,oa t; txr- From 2020 Anandam programe is incorporate in syllabus, through which we efforts students should connect social responsibilities and develop a feeling of empathy and emotions. Apart from this, our young talent is engaged in innovation cell, women cell, career counseling and placement cell, anti ragging etc. for encouging and enriching their exposure, Further providing them a place to connect, a space to grow.
The college has completed two cycle of NAAC inspection. Firstly under the administrative excellency of professor R. C. Choudhary, Principal of the college, got B+ grade in 2005 and secondly under the administrative excellency Professor kul bhushan, Principal of the college, got B+ grade in 2016. At present under the administrative excellency of professor D.C. Dudi, Principal of the college, is performoing very well. Recently, college adopted NEP 2020 and work as per regulation of NEP 2020.
Futuristic planning of college administration is efforts for opening law faculty. It will be very useful and beneficial for surrounding areas law seeker students. There is no facility for law seeker students in sambhar Lake. Law college is in jaipur which is 70 km. from sambhar lake and another nearest law college is in ajmer which is 100 km. from sambhar lake. In this situation, wastage of time & money, it mean, it is a wastage of national resources. Therefore, in this condition, law college is a necessity of time. So that, legal awareness may be proliferate in surrounding areas and supporting institution (court) is available in sambhar lake.
The civilization of the quaint salt town, Sambhar, goes back to the legendary epic of Mahabharata; mentioned as part of the territory of the demon king Vrishparva and as the place where the wedding of the daughter of priest Sukracharya, Devayani, and King Yayati took place.
Historical records reveal that the town of Sambhar was founded by Raja Vasudev of the Chauhan dynasty in 551 AD. Over time, the Sindhias, Marathas and Mughals ruled it and in 1709, it was retrieved by the Rajputs. The rulers of Jaipur and Jodhpur jointly owned the lake, and who in 1870 leased it to the British. The name, Sambhar, stems from the 2500 years old tutelary deity, Shakambhari, of the Chauhan Rajputs (Prithviraj Chauhan).
The colonial time infrastructure here includes heritage buildings, old salt museum, trolley train and the Circuit House
