History         

Situated along the rolling hills of Vindhyas and The Aravalis, The tiger city of SawaiMadhopur is known for the astounding Natural Beauty, Wilderness, History & Legends.

The serene atmosphere, the thrill of wildlife and the boundless acres of natural beauty can mesmerize anyone and therefore attracts tourists from all over the world. It is about 180 kms. from the capital city of jaipur. Apart from the wild life, the unassailable Ranthambhore fort with its chief deity Lord Trinetra Ganesha and various other temples are the other significant features.

This area was ruled by self respecting Raja Hammir Dev ( a Rajput king ) of Chauhan lienage along with his Bargujar relatives. The area was destroyed by Allaudin Khiljee. Sawai Madhopur was built as a planned city by Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh I of Jaipur(1750–1768), who named the township after himself. Sawai Madhopur is also famous for its guavas, affectionately known as "Madhopur guavas" in Rajasthan.

The college was founded in the year 1971 with Dr. Chetan Swaroop Kulshrestha as its founder principal. Starting with only 300 students the college now boasts of as many as 5500 regular students. We now proudly offer 20 programmes at undergraduate level in Science Arts Commerce and agriculture. The student can also choose from an extensive array of 10 subjects in arts and commerce.

The name of college was changed on 19th May 2015 as Shaheed Captain Ripudaman Singh Rajkiya Mahavidyalaya,Sawai Madhopur in the honour and proud memory of Captain Ripudaman Singh of 47 Rashtriya Rifles(Bihar) Regiments, a native of Palighat,Sawai Madhopur who laid down his lives on 3rd April 2004 while fighting terrorists in J & K.

The campus which sprawls across acres is divided into two campuses, namely South and the North Campus. The playgrounds are sufficient and the college has won various awards in the district and the National championships.The college has produced large number of IASs and IPSs, probably the largest in the whole country.
