Government College Sirohi, Rajasthan is one of the best colleges in southwestern Rajasthan. It started as an undergraduate college in 1957 and has since grown from strength to strength and is at present offering undergraduate programs in Science, Arts, and Commerce, and postgraduate programs in seven subjects in Arts and Science streams.The College is equipped with state of the art IT facilities, advanced teaching aids, and sports equipments of international standards. It has highly qualified faculty and excellent teaching-learning environment that has always drawn higher education aspirants not only from Sirohi but also from adjoining districts to this college.
Government College, Sirohi is recognized by UGC, New Delhi under Sections 2(f) and 12 (b). Presently, the college is affiliated with Mohan Lal Sukhadia University, Udaipur. The college has till date undergone three cycles of NAAC accreditation. In the first cycle in 2004, the college secured a B+ grade, in the second cycle in 2015, the college was among the only five colleges of Rajasthan that secured an A grade. In the third cycle, college secured B++ Grade in 2020. Postgraduate classes in Science (Chemistry and Zoology) and Arts (Hindi, English, Sanskrit, History, Sociology, Geography and Political Science) are being taught. Ph.D. scholars are registered with Chemistry, Zoology Geology, Hindi, Political Science, Geography, and Sanskrit departments. Presently 2911 students are registered as regular students in the college. The average result of the College is approx. 95% in exams.
The college is also running the Distance Education Center of Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi and Vardhman Mahaveer Open University, Kota.
This college is a beneficiary of RUSA (Rashtriya Ucchatar Shiksha Abhiyan) of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India. During the session of 2016-17 and 2017-18, the college was allocated a grant of Rupees Two crore from RUSA. This grant facilitated the development of infrastructure and the renovation of the college buildings. Now, the college is well-equipped with laboratries and the latest teaching aids. The Library of the college was also enriched by this grant.
