YDC
The State government has initiated a scheme of setting up Youth Development Centres in all government colleges. The basic objective of these centres is to inculcate employable skills in colleges students. All government colleges have been instructed to set up Youth Development Centres.
These centres will run two broad types of activities-
(a) a 20-hour capsule training programme for all final year graduate students which will have topics such as writing cv, telephonic conversation, anger management, time management, facing interviews, etc
(b) Compiling and providing information about opportunities for higher studies, job vacancies, scholarships, etc.
All YDC may also take up the following additional activities as per the availability of resources and expertise in the colleges –
- Career advice
- Skill testing
- Aptitude testing
- Personality tests
- Making employment related newspapers available
- Organizing campus interviews
- Special placement drives/fairs
- Organizing competitions for students
- Organizing skill upgradation courses
- Personality improvement classes
- Setting up help desk at the time of admissions in college
- Brainstorming session
- Organizing seminars
- Group counseling
- Meeting with successful alumni
