The widest road leading to the solution of all our problems is education. Gandhi ji said “By education, I mean an all-round drawing out of the best in the child and man, body, mind and spirit.” Thus education seeks to develop the innate inner capacities of man by imparting knowledge, understanding, skills, and interests, attitudes and critical thinking. It helps to break existing moulds and renews, recreates newer and higher moulds. The objective in higher education is to promote equality, social justice, professional expertise and leadership in all walks of life. The national policy on education also emphasizes on these aspects.
Since a college is a society in miniature, it is an agent of social change and social control. A socially just society is based on the principles of equality and solidarity, understands and values human rights, recognizes the dignity of every human being as well as involves economic egalitarianism. The three specific areas relating to social justice: access, participation and outcomes from education need to be given the most attention in relation to policies on education. Thus the inclusion of social justice in education is an integral part of the education system.
But as far as the Indian women are concerned it’s a dismal state. They have a long way to go fighting many battles for survival at home and outside. As a woman she has to overcome barriers of discrimination, marginalization, superstition, suppression, oppression, injustice, gender bias and many other such challenges. Women in smaller cities and towns like Ajmer face tougher opposition at all levels and lack opportunities in every sphere including higher education. But the fact of the matter is that if one woman is educated, the family society and eventually the nation is educated,
As per the changing need of the hour, the state government justifiably established an undergraduate government girl’s college in Ajmer, in the year 1994 in the campus of GCA, initially with just arts and commerce faculty. The MDS University and the UGC granted it permanent affiliation in the years 1999 and 2000 respectively. The NAAC team on the basis of its evaluation granted it a B grade. Its a proud moment to share when the college achieved B++ grade in 3rd cycle under the guidance of the Principal Dr. Manjula Mishra and the support of the faculty members in 2023.
Since its inception the college is pledged to the promotion and development of diverse academic, creative and individual talents of the students.
In 2012, GGCA which was previously run in the campus of GCA shifted in to the Savitri Girls' college campus situated in Civil Lines, opposite Khadim tourist bungalow. It is about 500 m from the bus stand and about 3 km from the Railway station. With the merger of the two colleges ( under consideration of the Rajasthan Government) there has been a quantum leap in the pursuance and transmission of knowledge as many new options have been made available to the students at affordable fees. The college is doing an incredible job of empowering young minds through education and personality development to impact the world around them.
