INTRODUCTION

Government Girls’ College Ajmer (GGCA), established in 1994 with merely 73 students. It has blossomed to be the first choice of 3305 girl students. Initially started in the campus of Government College, Ajmer, the college shifted to its present campus in ex-Savitri Girls’ College, Ajmer, a private aided college in the session 2012-13 when the State Government acquired and merged Savitri College with GGCA. It is situated in Civil Lines, Ajmer, in close proximity to the Central Bus Stand at 26.470773 latitude and 74.639596 longitude. It has an area of 9605 sq.mts.(2.37 acres) and a built-up area of 8032 sq.mts.(1.98 acres). The College has been affiliated to MDS University, Ajmer since 1999. Government Girls’ College Ajmer is listed under section 2(F) & 12(B) of the UGG act 1956, since 2000. The powers and duties of its officers and employees are as per RSR (Rajasthan Service Rules) GF&AR, MHRD and UGC.

Presently 19 subjects are taught in the college at undergraduate level in B. A, B. Com and B.Sc. Seven subjects at postgraduate level in Drawing and Painting, Economics, History, Hindi, Home Science, Music and Political Science. Ph.D. research is carried out in 6 subjects (Drawing and Painting, Economics,Hindi,History,Political Science and Sanskrit) in Arts faculty.

The principal is the head of the institution and performs the duties related to overall administration, monitoring, planning and implementation. Under the dynamic leadership of the Principal Prof. Manjushri Gupta and a team of committed faculty members, the institution is progressing and reaching new heights of excellence.

The College was accredited with B++  grade in the III Cycle of NAAC accreditation in 2023. Government Girls’ College has been playing a lead role in women’s education for nearly two decades now. The College has been committed to impart higher education to girl students from rural backgrounds from the economically and socially backward section of the society.

The monogram of the College contains a quotation from Hitopdesha Upanishad “Vidya Dadati Vinayam” meaning ‘Knowledge imparts Humility’ with the pictures of the Sun, a lotus and a book symbolizing knowledge and progress.
