ABOUT THE INSTITUTION

The college roots can be traced back to the mid nineties when Late shri Multanmal Bhickchand Chajjer, an education activist and an unequivocal and unconditional supporter of the cause of woman, led an effort to establish a college solely for women in Barmer in order to provide them equal opportunity and facility for their baccalaureate studies so as to foster self-esteem, dignity and well being among them.

It was though his ceaseless endeavors that the college was found in the year 1997 under the public private partnership scheme of the state government with a generous contribution of Rs 50,00,000/- from the benevolent donor Late Shri Multanmal bhickchand Chajjer, after whom the college is named and a similar initial start-up amount came from the fund of the state government.

                             Initially the college started with a modest 62 collegiate students in the faculty of Arts in the year 1997. Affirming its status as the paramount institution of higher education for woman in Barmer, the year 2008 was characterized by building of a new science block. Thus, in 2009 the college admitted its first science batch and in the same year it welcomed its first batch of commerce students. PG in political science from 2019 Today, the college can modestly claim to be one of the district’s  leading institutions of higher learning that support and encourages women to achieve their full intellectual potential so that they can become eminent citizens in the decision making process as well as in building the action.

यहां भारत के सीमान्त जिले में महिला�"ं  के लिए उच्च शिक्षा हेतु महिला कॉलेज का शुभारम्भ 29 जुलाई 1997 को हुआ । कॉलेज भवन का शिलान्यास तत्कालीन उच्च स्शिक्षा मंत्री श्री ललित किशोर चतुर्वेदी एवं श्री ललित के . पंवार , तत्कालीन संभागीय आयुक्त के द्वारा संपन्न हुआ द्य नव निर्मित कॉलेज भवन का लोकार्पण माननीय मुख्यमंत्री राजस्थान श्रीमान अशोक गहलोत द्वारा 23 अप्रेल 2000 को हुआ।
इस भवन का निर्माण सहभागी योजनान्तर्गत 90  लाख से हुआ , इसमें 45 लाख रुपए श्री मुल्तानमल  भिखचंद  छाजेड धर्मार्थ ट्रस्ट  की अैार से भामाशाह श्री लूणकरण,श्री धरमचंद एवं श्री शंकरलाल छाजेड ,तथा शेष 45 लाख राज्य सर्कार द्वारा दिए गए।  बाड़मेर जन सेवा समिति के अध्यक्ष  श्रीमान प्रकाश मेहता ने इस महाविद्यालय के आवर्ती एवं अनावर्ती व्यय हेतु 18 लाख रुपए प्रदान किये । इसकी स्थापना में तत्कालीन कलेक्टर श्री राजीव स्वरुप �"र  पत्रकार श्री भूरचंद जैन का भी बहुत सहयोग रहा। 
श्री लूणकरण  छाजेड द्वारा कॉलेज के लिए एक ए .सी .भी भेंट किया गया। 
वर्ष 2002 -03  में माननीय वित्त मंत्री जसवंत सिंह  की �"र  से भरत सरकार के सांसद कोटे से  5 लाख कंप्यूटर रूम हेतु प्रदान किये द्य इससे 10 कंप्यूटर क्रय किये गए द्य इसी वर्ष माननीय सांसद कर्नल सोनाराम  द्वारा सांसद कोटे से बास्केट बाॅल कोर्ट निर्माण  हेतु 2 लाख प्रदान किये गए । वर्ष 2006 -07 में स्थानीय सांसद मेजर मानवेंद्र  सिंह द्वारा कॉलेज फर्नीचर हेतु 2 .50  लाख रुपए सासद कोष से प्राप्त हुए। ललित किरी पुत्र रामचंद्र किरी , किरी एंड कंपनी द्वारा कॉलेज पार्क के लिए जाली का निर्माण कराया गया द्यमहालक्ष्मी एक्सपोर्ट  मालेगांव (नासिक ) के वढेरा परिवार की तरफ से तथा लाॅयंस क्लब बाड़मेर के सौजन्य से कॉलेज को वाटर कूलर भेंट किया गया। आज कॉलेज का विशाल भवन है जिसमें 17 अध्यापन कक्ष , 4 प्रय्पोग्शालाएं ,पुस्तकालय भव्य सेमीनार हॉल , बास्केटबाल ग्राउंड , हैंडबॉल ग्राउंड ,एन. एस.एस., बी. पी.�"". कंप्यूटर लैब ,खेल विभाग इत्यादि मौजूद  हैं। राजस्थान सरकार ने सत्र 2009 -10  से काॅलेज में राजकीय मद से साइंस �"र कॉमर्स फैकल्टी की शुरुआत कर दी गयी है । अभी तीनों संकायों में कुल 1300 से ज्यादा छात्राएं अध्यनरत हैं।
