About the college
Situated amidst the natural surroundings at about 7 km. away from the city on the Dholpur-Bharatpur road, Government Girls’ College, Dholpur is one of the most popular girls’ colleges in Rajasthan. The college was founded in the year 2013, and since then it has constantly been touching the higher and higher horizons of success in the field of academics, games and sports, cultural activities through the participation and award-winning of many of its students at the state and the national level. The college enjoys a distinct identity in the state for its discipline that keeps all the students in order; well-qualified faculty members who prepare the students for the various competitions and for the service of the nation; and for the students who, despite belonging to the rural families, always keep their eyes on the goals in the field of education they set for themselves. The college environment is conducive to hospitality, academics and career-building.
About Dholpur
Situated between the two famous states of India Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, Dholpur lies in the eastern part of the state of Rajasthan, and is known for its mixed culture of all the three states. Built in the early 11th century by Raja Dhawal Dev, and originally known as Dhawalpuri, it is now famous after its official name ‘Dholpur’. It got a distinct identity as a district of Rajasthan in 1982. At present it has six Sub Divisions and six Tehsils, Dholpur, Bari, Baseri , Rajakhera, Saipau & Sarmathura and five Development Blocks namely Dholpur, Bari, Baseri, Rajakhera and Saipau.
It is bordered by Bharatpur district of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh to the north, Madhya Pradesh to the south, Karauli district to the west and Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh to the east. May and June are the hottest months when the normal temperature of the day is more than 40 °C. On the contrary, December and January are the coldest months when the temperature is generally from 5 °C to 10 °C. The district is well connected by roads and railways. Muchchhkund
Muchchhkund, which is named after Raja Muchchhukand, the 24th of the Suryavanshi Dynasty (the Solar Clan) who is said to have reigned nineteen generations before Lord Ram, It is about 4 kms from the town of Dholpur. Having its mythological significance, it is a popular sacred place in the district.
National Chambal (Gharial) Wildlife Sanctuary:
The Chambal river, one of north India's most unpolluted rivers and home to a rich diversity of flora and fauna, imparts a special status to Dholpur by passing by many of its villages. National Chambal (Gharial) Wildlife Sanctuary, founded in 1978, contains the Dolphin, Crocodiles, Allegators (Gharials) and the migratory birds from Siberia serves as a great attraction to the tourists.
