Ch. Balluram Godara Govt. Girls College, Sri Ganganagar, a pioneer college for women education in the north of Rajasthan is one of the oldest government colleges for women in Rajasthan. Sri Ganganagar is the northernmost city of the state which lies close to the state border of Punjab and Rajasthan and the international border of India and Pakistan.Situated in the heart of the city Sri Ganganagar   which is known as ‘Food Basket of Rajasthan’, the college strives to enlighten and encourage the girls from semi-urban and rural vicinities of the district to enable them to hone their creative potential to assume positive and fulfilling roles in nation-building.

         Established in 1958 by the Government of Rajasthan, the college is named after Choudhary BalluramGodara, a distinguished philanthropist ofthe district committed for the cause of women empowerment through education. In his fond memory, his family magnanimously donated for the construction of the building of this college.Presently affiliated to Maharaja Ganga Singh University, Bikaner, the college started its journey with inter-classes in 1958 as an affiliated college of University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. In 1987, the university affiliation of the college was shifted to M.D.S. University, Ajmer. In 2003, the college got affiliated to Bikaner University, Bikaner which is presently known as Maharaja Ganga Singh University, Bikaner. The college was promoted to the status of Graduate College in 1960 with the UG programme in Arts. Extending the range of academic programmes for girls, UG programmes inScience, Commerce and Home Science were introduced respectively in 1964,1981 and 1989.  The college was raised to the status of a PG college in 1994 with the introduction of PG Programmes in two subjects in Humanities i.e., Hindi and Sociology. Later on, PG Courses in   Political Science, Zoology and English were introduced in 1999,2006 and 2013 respectively. In compliance of the orders of the State Government to address the needs of the students the college introduced some PG Programmes through “Mahavidyalaya Vikas Samiti” under the Self-Financing Scheme; these courses include PG in Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, ABST, Geography, Economics, Indian Music, History, Sanskrit, Home Science.

       Situated at the district headquarter, Sri Ganganagar, this is the only government college for girls in the district which has been providing hostelfacility at affordable expenses since 1971 to the girls from nearby villages facilitating their access to higher education. In its journey of 65 years, the college has chiseled the rural youth with endless potential into   women of substance who are serving the society as dedicated teachers, academicians, entrepreneurs, administrative and civil servants as well.
