Sri Ganganagar

Sri Ganganagar, one of the 33 districts of Rajasthan State, is situated near the borders of Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab States, and the international border of India and Pakistan. It is named after Maharaja Ganga Singh, Maharaja of the erstwhile princely state of Bikaner. It is also known as the “Food Basket of Rajasthan”. The city has been a center of learning since the early ages. At present, besides many schools, it has the distinction of having more than 13 educational institutions of higher learning that impart higher education. Ch. Balluram Godara Govt. Girls College is one of such institutes. Being situated near the international border and imparting education exclusively to girls, the college deserves special attention and financial support to meet the expectations of the local population, especially women folk belonging to Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Communities, and Minority (Sikh) communities.

 

History

Ch. Balluram Godara Govt. Girls College, Sri Ganganagar, is performing a pivotal role in imparting higher education to girls. This institute came into existence in 1958 due to the joint and ceaseless efforts of Ch. Ballu Ram Godara and the Govt. of Rajasthan.

Inter-classes started in the very same year. Graduation in the Arts faculty was introduced in 1960 and the Science faculty in 1964 to fulfill the demands of girls. 1981 again proved a boon year with the commencement of the Commerce faculty, and after five years, 1989 proved a momentum year with the initiation of B.Sc. Home Science. A milestone in higher education for girls was laid in 1994 with the beginning of P.G. classes in Hindi and Sociology and Political Science in 1999.
