Unnat Bharat Abhiyan

 

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is inspired by the vision of transformational change in rural development processes by leveraging knowledge institutions

 

The programme was formally launched by the Ministry of Education (MoE) (formerly the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD)) in the presence of the President of India on November 11, 2014. IIT Delhi is the nodal agency of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan programme.

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) is an initiative of the Govt. of India to enable Higher Educational Institutions, basically higher education of technology, to work with the rural people and identify the challenges they face and come up with solutions for their development. The scheme intends to link Higher Educational Institutions with at least 5 villages to uplift their social and economic conditions.  The college has an active UBA cell to spread awareness in the rural suburbs. Under the UBA scheme, the college has adopted 5 villages, viz., Chak 3 B, Chak 5 B, Chak 7 Z, Chak 8 Z and Chak 11 Z.

 

The college UBA (Unnat Bharat Abhiyan) Cell conducts various awareness

programmes for the betterment of the natives of 5 villages adopted by the college UBA cell.

During the academic session 2019–2020, a literacy campaign in the adopted villages was successfully conducted by the college UBA cell.

In the academic session 2020-2021, the UBA Cell of the college distributed food items to the needy people in the adopted villages during COVID lockdown.

During the academic session 2021–2022, the cell conducted health awareness programmes in the adopted villages, like the Dengue and Malaria Awareness Drive and the Corona Vaccination Awareness Programme and the distribution of masks.

In the academic session 2022-2023, the cell participated in a village public hearing at the gram panchayat of the adopted village, Chak 9 Z, to apprise the villagers of measures for saving water and electricity, Drug Prevention and Clean India Campaign.
