Best Practice

Title Of The Practice 1 :

Environment Consciousness and Sustainability

Objectives of the Practice:

To make the campus lush green.
To sensitize, encourage, engage students, staff, stake holders towards environment sustainability.
To plant medicinal, ornamental and fruit bearing trees in the college campus.
To create environmental awareness about plastic prohibition.
To promote conservation and sustainable use of resources.
The Context:
Rajasthan faces several environmental challenges like low rainfall and extreme climate conditions. . State government has mandate tree plantation and plastic prohibition in colleges to conserve and enhance environmental resources.
Thus tree plantation and green campus drive by the college students ensure stability of eco-system.  Trees play a significant role in maintaining equilibrium of the environment. Many ecological process like soil cover, balancing green house gases, oxygen production, monsoon cycle, rainfall pattern are governed by trees. Trees  diminishes the severe effects of global warming.
 The Practice:
The best practice of our college is to plant medicinal, ornamental, fruit bearing and shady trees in the campus and making it lush green. Students are motivated to plant saplings in the campus, watering and taking care of them. The whole area of college is landscaped with shady trees tagging it to "Green Campus". The college administration offer saplings to the guests instead of flower bouquets to promote tree plantation.

Students are also encouraged to limit energy usage by switching   off electricity when not needed. . The administration has also replaced the traditional light bulbs with LEDs of energy. The girls are made aware of reduction of green house gas emissions by reducing our use of energy,

Students are also steered towards "No plastic" usage  Display boards are put at various places . By reducing plastic waste and plastic use, there would be a reduction in harmful carbon dioxide emissions . Students are encouraged to use steel bottles and tiffin boxes, paper and cloth bags and discourage use of polythene, plastic bottles and disposables in the campus.

Evidence Of Success:
The college campus is covered with various ornamental, medicinal fruit bearing and shady. trees, herbs and shrubs. Students of NSS participate actively in the tree plantation drive. The campus is enriched with variety of plant species. Many trees are tagged with their botanical as well as common names. Saplings are protected by tree guards to give them a safe environment. As a result of tree plantation drive, the quality of air in the campus is very good.
Harit Vatika  is also developed in the campus which has many fruit bearing plants as well as medicinal plants. Fencing has been laid down to safeguard the saplings.
Problems Encountered And Resources Required  :
The major problem encountered in making the campus green is the presence of termite in the soil which does not allow the plant to grow. Anti-termite treatment is done in the soil to make the saplings grow adequately. Many large trees have died due to termites in the soil.
The college campus does not have proper boundary wall therefore grazing animals enter the campus and ruin the saplings.
In rainy season, due to poor drainage, the water stagnates, in the campus for many days resulting in swamps

Title Of The Practice 2

Efficient Implementation Of Course Curricula To The Deprived Girls Of Society

Objectives of the Practice:

To ensure the completion of curriculum, offered by the university, on time, to the deprived girls of society.
To upgrade the knowledge of girls belonging to the deprived and financially weaker section of society.
To monitor the implementation of course curriculum through effective feedback.
To test the subsequent upgradation of knowledge by regular monthly tests and assignments.
The Context:
Effective implementation  becomes more challenging when the stake holders are from weaker section of society. To bring such girls at par, a process involving competent and dedicated teachers, adequate study materials, lesson plan has been evolved. This helps in improving employability.

The Practice
The curriculum of science (Bio, Maths) ,humanities and commerce streams are planned and prescribed by the M.D.S. university well ahead in time.
Academic calendar with extracurricular activities are followed strictly as it enhances the all-round development of girls.
Regular attendance of the students is maintained in the register which is audited quarterly by the Dean, and head of the institution. Names of the girls with low attendance are exhibited on the notice board as warning
Girls belonging by the rural background are updated with extra knowledge by  e-lectures
Syllabus completion statements are submitted to the dean by all faculty members to ensure timely completion of syllabus.

Fair evaluation of answer books of monthly exams and assignment are done
ACR (Annual confidential Report) is submitted annually by all the faculty members to the head of the institution as self-appraisal providing detailed information of the contribution made toward the development of the institution..
Evidence Of Success:
Academic calendar is followed in the institution.
Beside traditional lectures, smart class room lectures are also delivered for audio visual support to make the implementation of curriculum more effective and interesting.
lectures under Y.D.C. (Youth Development Centre) are delivered by the eminent scholars. College time-table efficiently deploys the units of time for theory and practical classes thereby ensuring effective implementation of curriculum.
Class tests and internal assignments comprise the formal evaluative process .
Under IDEA( Inter Disciplinary Education Association)  teachers and students of different faculty ( Arts and commerce ) interacted with each other to understand the subjects, fields and thoughts..
In Faculty exchange process of  DRAC ( District Resource Assistance Committee). teachers of other colleges were deputed in our college

Problem Encountered And Resources Required:
The university curriculum has been same since years and was not been updated.
Need based education and vocational education  in the curriculum has not been given much importance as there is only subject centered curriculum
Curriculum does not have any courses related to up gradation of values to make the students more  socially responsible. Defined course curriculum in value education is much needed.

In this manner the deprived girl students of society gain insight of the intricate aspects of the society and evolve a social consciousness necessary for the social development of the nation. This aims at nurturing a committed and socially responsible future generations. Giving number of scholarships to the meritorious students belonging to economically weaker and backward classes of society promoting the upliftment of girl education in the society.  The learning environment of the college brings together the best of facilities of infrastructure and highly qualified teachers to serve the cause of rural girl students. Thus the intimate duty of the college is enriching the skills, by imparting quality education to make the students free from the clutches of social and economical  binds. Girl students of various courses are grouped  and a mentor is appointed. Mentors motivate and guide the students in all manner in a very affectionate manner This helps in resolving the problems of student’s family and career in a informal way.

Besides completion of syllabus, interactive teaching and participative learning is promoted through group discussion, extempore, quiz, debates etc. A healthy relationship between teacher and girls is developed thus reducing the disparity. This gives a great opportunity to the faculty members to deal with sensitive topics like menstrual health hygiene, under the aegis of 'UDAAN' which is completely absent in their homes, due to uneducated parents. This conducive environment, starts from the institution and encourage them to think for themselves. These sensitive issues are emphasized by audio-visual aids and smart class rooms.

It helps them to develop an insight to contribute to make the society a better place to grow and live in as better individuals. The deep relevance of concepts creates more interest in subject matter and results in permanent retention of knowledge. The girls are provided with all the learning opportunities that help them to become economically productive, contribute to peaceful and democratic societies and get enhance individual well being. The girls educated from the institute, eventually get married, have healthier children and play active roles in leading their communities and country with full potential.

The institutional distinctiveness is in educating girls by cultivating their skills and capacities and giving educated mothers to the society. These are actually human capitals for the next generation.
