INFORMATION OF CHAKSU

Chaksu is a municipality in Jaipur district in the state of Rajasthan, India. The town is situated at a distance of 40 km from Jaipur on National Highway 52. One of the renowned towns of Rajasthan which is well known for its historic and religious importance. The town residing beneath the feet of Goddess Sheetla and a town which holds its ground for Padampura Jain temple, Champeshwar Mahadev temple and Manohar pond. Not to forget the Golelaav pond which was a result of the cannon fired from Jaipur by Sawai Jai Singh. It is the amalgam of modernity and ages old tradition and culture of Rajasthan.

It is encircled by the symbolic atmosphere of Rajasthan viz hot and dry winds and Khjejdi trees.

Shitla Ashtami celebrated in Chaksu. The Shitla Ashtmi fair held in the month of march-April and Hindi month of chaitra each year at Chaksu. Sheetla Mata, the goddess of small pox. In village Seel-Ki-Doongri (Chaksu) people also known as a Band Sheodungri. Doongri is a hillock on top of which the idol of Sheetla Mata stands. The fair is far in her honour for a day each year. The earlier name of Chaksu is Champavati. In the inscription it has been named as Chatsu. Its names Tambavati and Pahpavati are found in Janshruti. In its east flows the Dhoond river and in the west flows the Band river. Its antiquity is considered to be the sixth century of Christ.
