College of Agriculture, Bharatpur was established on 24^th April, 2013 vide order no. F. 4(18) Agriculture-3/2013 Govt. of Rajasthan, under Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University (SKRAU) Bikaner. Presently COA Bharatpur is a constituent College of Sri Karan Narendra Agriculture University (SKNAU) Jobner, established with the mandate to impart quality education for graduates in the discipline of Agriculture. As per mandate of our University, all the three component i.e. teaching, research and extension units are working at the same campus, it makes this college unique in whole of the state. As students of this college are getting technical knowhow related to every aspect of Agriculture including stakeholders. Maharaja Surajmal Brij University is situated very close to this college which makes the campus as an education hub. COA, Bharatpur is situated between latitude 27.28 ^�' North, longitude 77.39 ^�' East with a height of 183 m above mean sea level in the agro-climatic Zone III-B (Flood prone eastern plain zone) of Rajasthan. The major crops of this region are mustard, wheat, barley chickpea and potato in rabi season and pearl millet, sorghum, sesamum and clusterbean during kharif season. The soil type of this region is sandy loam with poor quality ground water for irrigation and drinking purpose. This is an emerging organization imparting quality agricultural education in eastern gateway of Rajasthan (Bharatpur). It is an educational institute entirely in the lap of nature. College campus gives a natural looks having greenery, ample plantation and natural landscaping. College is running in modern academic and administrative building which is equipped with well furnished smart class rooms, fully fledged library and laboratory facilities.

The college is located at Bharatpur- Alwar State Highway (SH-14), nearby Bailara kalan village. It is around 15 km. from Bharatpur city and is 2 km from main road. The Bharatpur is well connected to Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmadabad, Agra, Jaipur, Kota and other major cities of country with Rail & Road transportation facility to national highway no 21 which connects Agra Jaipur Bikaner and rest part of country.

Dean Profile:

Dr. Udai Bhan Singh, Professor (Horticulture) and Dean College of Agriculture, Bharatpur. He did his B.Sc. (Ag) from Dayanand College, Ajmer and M.Sc. (Ag) and Ph.D. in Horticulture from Rajasthan College of Agriculture, Udaipur. He started his career as Assistant Professor (Horticulture) at KVK, Bhilwara in the year 1996. He served as Assistant Professor (1996-2008), Associate Professor (2008-2011) and Professor (2011 onward). He served as Officer Incharge at Agriculture Research Sub Station, Kumher (Bharatpur) from June, 2011 to June 2020 and Dean College of Agriculture, Bharatpur from Sep, 2019 to Jan, 2020, Dean COA, Baseri (Dholpur) from 01 Feb.2020 to 09 June 2020 and again appointed as Dean COA, Bharatpur and Joined his duties as Dean from 10 June 2020.Dr.Udai Bhan Singh is a renowned scientist, teacher and extension worker. He published more than 50 research papers in various prestigious journals and his 53 research recommendation were included in package of practices for Zone III b, i.e. Flood Prone Eastern Plane of Rajasthan State, He published 6 books and more than 100 popular articles.Dr. Singh is distinguished scientist and expert, he always spare his time for farmers to advise them to adopt high technology in farming. Because of his efforts and research interventions in spices, especially fennel cultivation got popularized in Zone III b of Rajasthan. Because of his research recommendations, Ber cultivation has become a profitable business to the farmers. He is master trainer of zone IIIb and furnishing high technology of horticulture to extension personnel of Department of Agriculture every month.He is a good teacher and motivator; many students have cracked JRF examinations under his guidance. Presently he is working hard to make this college one of the best educational institutes in the country.

Aims & Objectives of College

To provide scientific and technical knowledge and to develop entrepreneurship skills among students in agriculture.
To provide value based quality education and to make students aware of high-tech and modern agriculture.
To enhance the competitiveness among students and help the college to emerge as a center of excellence in agriculture.
To prepare students for future challenges especially in the agriculture sector.

Admission Procedure:

Admission to B.Sc. (Hons) Ag programme is done through JET examination conducted by one of the Agricultural Universities of Rajasthan advertised through notification.
The minimum eligibility for a candidate to appear in this test is that the candidate must have passed 12^th of the 10+2 (Academic) scheme of examination with Agriculture/ Biology/ Mathematics group of the Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan or an Examination declared equivalent to it with prescribed percentage of marks mentioned in the admission notification.

Admission on payment seats is given on the basis of the JET merit as supernumerary seat in the constitute college of the University.
Admission on merit seats is given on the basis of merit of 10+2 without appearing in JET examination as supernumerary seat in the constitute college of the university.
A candidate must have secured at least 50% marks in the aforesaid examinations (10+2). A relaxation of 5% marks would be allowed to candidate belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non creamy layer)/SBC (Non creamy layer) category.
The maximum age limit is 25 years.
The candidate must be a bonafide resident of Rajasthan.

Intake Capacity of College:

The college has an intake capacity of 62 students (40 JET merit based + 20 JET merit based with payment seats+2 students through merit of 12th class).
During the current academic session (2019-20) the total number of enrolled students at the college is 239; among them 180 and 59 are male and female students, respectively.

The Rural Agricultural Work Experience:

(RAWE) is a compulsory course offered in VI Semester to students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Ag. The primary aim of the programme is to understand the practical rural situations, status of agricultural technologies adopted by farmers, prioritize the problems faced by the farmer and to develop skills & attitude of working with the farm families for an all-round development in rural area. An educational tour for the students is also an integral part of the Programme. In this the students visit to different agricultural institutes and get fact based information and practical experience about different ongoing projects, newer technologies and farming system. It helps them to update their knowledge and makes them aware about recent innovation and technologies in agriculture and allied sciences.

Facilities or Infrastructure:

The following facilities are available at the campus:

Class Room: This College was shifted to new & modern building in June 2020. Class rooms of college are spacious, well ventilated, well-furnished and equipped with modern and smart class room facilities for conducting UG and PG classes.
Laboratory: College has fully equipped laboratories for practical learning of most of the subject. It has total 8 laboratories namely Horticulture, Agronomy, Soil Science, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Biochemistry and computer lab etc.
Land: A total of 12.5 ha land is available under the college out of which around 7 ha land is utilized for experimentation and seed production programme on different crops. The efforts are being made to obtain the 50 hac land from Deptt. Of Animal Husbandry Govt. of Rajasthan.
Administration block: College have an administration block, conference room, staff rooms for teaching and non-teaching staff, one student welfare office, a separate room for convenience of girl students, sports room and NCC room etc.
Guest House: A well-furnished guest house is also available at district headquarter on key position of Saras circle very close to Ghana Bird Sanctuary (NH-21) consists of 8 room attached with lat bath having AC and Cooler facility. One conference/ training hall which facilitates officers to convene meeting and conduct farmers training, is also available. This guest house possesses a huge lawn with beautiful landscaping and parking facilities also.
Basic Amenities: RO drinking water and lavatory facility separate for both boys and girls are available in the college.
Girls Hostel: The college has one girls hostel aims to provide a convenient and a comfortable stay for the girls students. The Hostel has a total number of 12 furnished rooms, one common room and mess facility. The rooms are allotted on sharing basis among two students. The girls’ hostel also satisfies the vital objective of ensuring safety of girls.

·Library facilities: A well-furnished library with expedient collection of books on different subjects and availability of a spacious reading room for students forms the core of our college strength. The college library maintains sufficient textbooks and reference books and has a collection of around 4500 books of different disciplines, of which 705 books are under book bank facility.

The college provides additional facilities to the students in the form of a photo copier Xerox machine, computers with internet facility etc. The library also subscribes different magazine, regional, national newspapers and other important agricultural periodicals, for all round development of the students. The college maintains a continuous update of library inventories to keep it at par with the pace of changing information.

Sports Facilities: A Badminton Court, Volleyball ground and Table Tennis room is available for students at the college.
NSS: The College of Agriculture, Bharatpur foresees the active participation of undergraduate students in National Service Scheme (NSS), started by Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Ministry of Human Resources Development, New Delhi, in 1969-70. The basic purpose of this scheme is to develop responsibility through social services and realization of work. It helps to inculcate self-discipline and control of mind and body for making students a responsible citizen. NSS activities are a mandatory part of B.Sc. (Hons.) Ag. degree program. NSS course is being offered as a part of the course curriculum since 2014.
Extracurricular activities: The college from its inception has regularly organized vivid student activities, for all-around development of the students. The college believes in endorsement of professionalism and ethics among students by imparting value based education for holistic development of the students. The resources spared by the college and the hard work and enthusiasm of the students have paid-off in the form of the whole hearted involvement and participation of the students in extracurricular and co-curricular activities regularly organized at the college and university level.
Celebration of special days of national importance: The College every year organizes different activities regularly on important National days to bring about awareness and inspiration among students. They form an integral part of the course curriculum for an all-round development of the students and faculty members.
Advisory system for students: Student advisory an integral part of UG programme in which about 25 students are allotted to a teacher. For this 7^th period of every Friday has been earmarked for advisors specially to interact with the students, so that their academic as well as day to day problems may be tackled without any delay.
Preparation Pattern of JRF/Pre-PG Examination: College has a specific emphasis on preparation for JRF & Pre-PG examination. Each faculty member is being allotted students, who can consult them regarding subject matter. Special classes are also arranged for specific topics as and when required.

Seed Production

From the inception, COA, Bharatpur has been actively involved in research encompassing seed production of nucleus, breeder and truthfully labeled seeds of clusterbean, urdbean, sesamum, gram, mustard and lentil under rainfed conditions. Stringent quality control measures are adopted at the farm to maintain the genetic purity of the seed stocks. Over the years the college farm have evolved as a center to nurture the young minds of the students, through practical hands on training in different aspects of crop production and farm management.

Other Contribution:

Proposal made for Agricultural College in Bharatpur district which was accepted and recommended by Academic council and BOM, SKRAU, Bikaner and this college announced by state govt in budget 2013-14.
Proposal made for Agro Food Processing Centre in Bharatpur district. It was announced by state govt in budget 2010-11.
It is made possible to cultivate seed spices especially fennel, fenugreek and coriander in zone III b under low water availability. All the three spices can be grown in two irrigation in heavy soil and in 3 irrigation in light soil with good productivity level.
Technology involvement: - sowing of seed with seed drill under conserve moisture condition and one hoeing and weeding with khurpi.
Impact of Technology:- Total area under species in zone IIIb in year 2001 was 1500 hectare, it is increased upto 28000 hectare in year 2017.
Technology has also been developed for cultivation of cabbage, cauliflower and radish at low water availability. Cabbage and cauliflower can be grown at three irrigation and radish can be grown at one irrigation and good productivity level.
Technology involvement:- sowing of seed at conserve moisture with seed drill (Direct sowing)
Production of Onion bulblet (seed) is made possible for Kharif Onion in Alwar district. The demand of Onion seed (bulblet) was previously fulfilled from outside. Now farmers are growing it themselves.
Cultivation of Ber is made possible in Bharatpur district at no irrigation. Now farmers are growing Ber with no irrigation. Area under Ber cultivation in Bharatpur district increased from 900 hectare in 3000 to 3500 hectare in 2017.
Technology involvement:- schedule of irrigation, fertilization and pruning in Ber was developed which was feasible and easy to adopt to local farmers.
Active involvement in establishment of Centre of Excellence Mango, Khemri, Dholpur.
Dr. S.S.Punia, Associate Professor (PBG) has released & notified six varieties of pulses at National level namely Kota Massor-1, Kota Masoor-2 and Kota Masoor-3 of Lentil, MU-2, Kota Urd-4 of Urdbean and Kota Rajmash-1 of Rajmash. He also released three varieties of pulses at state level i.e., Pratap Urd-1 and Kota Urd-3 of Urdbean and Kota Matar-1 of Field pea.

Seed Production

From the inception, COA, Bharatpur has been actively involved in research encompassing seed production of nucleus, breeder and truthfully labeled seeds of clusterbean, urdbean, sesamum, gram, mustard and lentil under rainfed conditions. Stringent quality control measures are adopted at the farm to maintain the genetic purity of the seed stocks. Over the years the college farm have evolved as a center to nurture the young minds of the students, through practical hands on training in different aspects of crop production and farm management.
