HISTORY AND INTRODUCTION

History

Nasirabad a Tehsil of historically famous Ajmer district of Rajasthan as a military cantonment. The Indian soldiers from this cantonment were the first and foremost to blow the trumpet for freedom struggle in Rajasthan in 1857.  The martyr monument situated in the city symbolizes it.  Even today, being the main cantonment of India many soldiers allied to defense services are living along with their families.

 

            To provide higher education to the surrounding rural areas, Rajasthan State Government in 1970 decided to set up an educational institution in Nasirabad.  The classes in Arts and Commerce faculties were started in Shri Ram Dharamshala at Gandhi Chowk in the centre of the city.  Later on Shri Bharo Singh Shekhawat and Shri Govind Singh Gurjar surveyed and found 125  bighas land in military area near Nandla village suitable for college building and the foundation stone was laid in the same year.  In 2010 the college was christened as ‘Shri Govind Singh Gurjar Government College, Nasirabad.  Since 1970 the institution is playing an important and significant role and consistently progressing.  In 2012, Science has been introduced and in 2013 college is upgraded to  P G  by state government now college is widening its horizon towards B. Ed course also.

Introduction

Now-a-days higher education is an essential parameter of the progress of a nation and it is only the higher education that prepares coming generation of society to attain its multifaced objectives. Ajmer district is a renowned ‘educational hub’ of Rajasthan and Nasirabad allied to defence services of India, very close to Ajmer, plays a vital role in educational arena.  Realizing the importance of higher education State Govt. decided to set up an educational institution in Nasirabad.

            Shri Govind Singh Gurjar Government College Nasirabad established in 1970 amidst calm, peaceful and rural surroundings offers a productive atmosphere to young aspirants to learn and grow.  The Co –Education College affiliated to M.D.S. university of Ajmer, offers undergraduate pass course in Arts, Commerce and Science and widening its horizon towards B. Ed. course.  The students hail from rural, economically and socially backward background students from all streams are chiseled here and excel in the chosen areas of their interest.  Well qualified and devoted faculty members are constantly engaged in delivering their best to the students and help them in multidimensional development of their personality.

 

            Besides academic excellence to nurture over all development of the students various literary, cultural, sports, games and other curricular and co-curricular activities are organized.  Students participate enthusiastically in various programmes conducted by NSS, Red Ribbon Club, Human Rights Club, Youth Development Centre to promote dynamic growth of personality.

 

            Since its inception in 1970, the institution is striving towards its mission to provide responsible, creative minded, rich cultured citizens who are committed to take the nation to the heights it deserve.
