Dr. Deepak Maheshwari Principal Greetings! Government Meera Girls College, Udaipur established in 1956, has completed 65 years of meaningful existence. From its humble beginning as inter-college with 18 students and 5 teachers, wheeled to multi-faculty degreed college in 1959 and postgraduate college in 1977, to the present strength of about 6175 students, the college has come a long way and has earned a position for itself and stands as a significant name on the academic landscape of Rajasthan. The college started its journey with the vision of “Structuring literate, knowledgeable and self-reliant women capable of upliftment of their families, society and ultimately, the nation” and has since committed itself to provide education at an affordable cost to the girls and women in various courses encompassing the faculties of Arts, Commerce and Science. The College is well equipped with facilities like spacious classrooms, Laboratories, Lush green Sports Ground, Indoor Stadium, Basket-Ball Court, Auditorium, Smart Classes with Interactive Boards, a Well-Stocked Library, CCTV Surveillance, immaculate Canteen, and Hostel. The college is permanently affiliated with Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, is NAAC accredited with “A” Grade. Women empowerment is essential for creating an equal and enriched society and education a powerful instrument to achieve this objective, so the mission of the college is “Women Empowerment through Inclusive Excellence”. We, at our college, thus aim at developing self –reliant, conscientious women by equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to create a strong identity for them, in the world that is changing itself at an extraordinary pace with the dominance of technology and globalization. The Research Contribution is the most important activity in any higher learning institution. All Accreditation / Ranking Agencies are very keenly looking for the research performance of Institutions in the assessment period. Faculty members have published more than 350 Research Papers and 125 books and book chapters in the last five years, 56 Ph.D. theses have been awarded under the supervision of faculty members. Many of the faculty members are serving as Member Editorial Board and Reviewer of International and National Journals of Repute. The college believes in undertaking best practices in pedagogy with the combination of teaching skills and erudition of the faculty members and technology. The Meera Girls College tradition happily brings together sound academic achievement with an extensive, vibrant co-curricular programme that includes sports, and leadership training programmes. The college provides solid platforms to students for honing their talents, “WAMA-Saksham” – the multi-skill program trains students for their self-defense, physical Mental wellbeing, personality development awareness about women’s rights laws. “Pratiyogita Dakshta and Dishari” programs provide free coaching to the students for competitive examinations. I have no qualms about saying that the girls of Meera Girls College are the best in sports, the general championship of the women’s sports events of the inter-college of MLS University for the last 5 years is proof of this. Students showcase their creativity through various cultural and literary competitions and “Miss MEERA”, the vibrant personality contest being the signature activities of the college. I feel proud to acknowledge the contribution of all the members of the teaching and non-teaching staff to various endeavours undertaken by the college.
