Alumni Association of Sirohi College
BIRTH AND GROWTH- The Foundation stone of the magnificent, stately building was laid in 1879 and initially started as Darbar Vernacular School In 1885, It was raised as Darbar Middle School. In 1925, it was further raised as a first-grade high school known as Colvin High School. This institution was raised to an Intermediate College in 1952 and a Degree College in 1957. The college became a post-graduate institution after the introduction of M.A. classes in Hindi and History in 1977. Later on, postgraduate classes were introduced in various subjects such as Sanskrit, English, Political Science, and Chemistry. In the meanwhile, many new optional subjects were also introduced at the degree level. The Colvin High School. later rechristened as GOVERNMENT COLLEGE SIROHI which became the premier institution of the MARWAR area, excelling in the academic field, Research, games, and sports. In December 2014, as an initiative of the Principal Dr. P.B. Sharma and some senior faculty members, it was decided to invite old renowned students of the College for alumni to meet. It was decided to convene a meeting of prominent old students available at Sirohi. The first meeting held in July 2014 comprising of senior academicians, engineers, professors, senior advocates, and other old students unanimously resolved to form “ALUMNI ASSOCIATION” to organize regular meetings and activities. A Steering Committee of the members was formed to form the constitution of the proposed association. Thus, took place the conception. The steering committee held meetings between July 2014 to December 2014 to finalize and approve the constitution of the Association. Then an intensive membership drive was undertaken and about 80 members were enrolled in a month. The first meeting was held in January 2014 in the staffroom of the college. This gave birth to a strong and well based Alumni Association of the Sirohi college.
