HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

His Excellency the King of Sikar estate Rao Raja Shri Kalyan Singh laid down the foundation of the college in the year 1920 as an Intermediate College. The institution was established with the motive of awareness towards the freedom struggle and spread of knowledge among the people in the region. The institution became a degree college in the year 1954 and in the same year the school was separated from the college with the name of Shri Kalyan School.

Degree classes in Commerce and Science subjects were initiated in the year 1958. Urdu as subject was introduced in the year 1964 at undergraduate level.

The College was recognized by UGC under section 2(f) and 12 (b) in year 1970. Subjects like Hindi, Economics, and Political science were up graded to Post Graduate level in the year 1971. The expansion on the academic side and the increase in the number of students led to extensive additions to the college building also. The year of 1977 & 1978 were significant as by that time post graduate studies in EAFM, ABST, Business Administration and History were started.

Post graduate classes were initiated in Chemistry (1981) and Mathematics (1990). The subject of geography was introduced at degree level in 2012 and the up-gradation to PG level in PHYSICS, BOTANY and  ZOOLOGY subjects was done in 2016.

The college is among the most well managed institutions, in the year 2004 was accredited with ‘B+’ grade by NAAC and thereafter it was declared as ‘Model College: Centre for Excellence’ by the department of higher education, Govt. of Rajasthan and recently in the year 2012 up on reaccreditation NAAC awarded‘A’ grade.
