INSTITUTIONAL DISTINCTIVENESS

Located in the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) region, Haridev Joshi Government Girls College, Banswara came into existence on 5th july 1995. It has completed more than 25 years and has become the largest Girls college in Banswara district .The college has a vision of emerging as a Centre of Excellence in pursuit of quality by providing National and worldwide compliant higher education through different streams of Science, Arts and Commerce. It is committed to uplift the standard of its students who hail from a so called “backward region”. It aims at the overall development of the tribal girls in particular , to enable them to become participants and contributors to mainstream society. In other words, it strives to strengthen the community of tribal academically and their partnership in society. Several measures have been adopted to achieve these goals and all these efforts provide a distinctive quality to the Institute. Some of them are as follows:

1.Personality Grooming: The primary focus of the Institute is groom the personality of its students through different activities conducted by Women Cell,YDC,NSS. As seventy five percent of the total strength belong to the Tribal community they are quite shy and introvert so the college staff is continuously engaged in helping them to shed away their shyness and inhibitions and emerge as confident and optimistic women. Communication skill and personality development lectures are held each year to achieve this goal.

2.Employability Culture:  The Institute is committed to promote employability and help its students to be self reliant as well as explore suitable career options for themselves. Besides conducting special coaching classes for Competitive Exams efforts are made to enhance skills through different short term courses and hobby classes. Faculty members also provide guidance to students for future career options. To uplift, encourage and motivate the students of this region to join administrative services and succeed in Competitive exams the college conducted PRATIYOGITA DAKSHTA CLASSES for regular students. Mock interviews, special exam “WAKE-UP”  Series in different subjects were held to assess their performance and prepare them for future.

3.Health Awareness:  To increase Health Awareness amongst students, is a major drive of the college. Blood Group Test, Eye Check Up, Hemoglobin Check Up Camps etc are regularly organized by NSS and local agencies to monitor health of students. Different lectures on Mental Health, Importance of women fitness, Malnutrition and Anemia are also conducted by different committees. Blood Donation Camps, Vaccination camps during Covid depicts the college’s commitment towards good health.

4.Gender Sensitization: One of the major concerns of College is Gender issues. It sensitizes its students towards the gender equality and malpractices of gender discrimination. Special lectures are held to make them aware of their legal and constitutional rights as well as on different problems related to women . Women Cell, Grievance Cell and staff in general work constantly to provide a free and fearless environment  to the students. The easy approachable and friendly attitude helps them to share even their personal problems.

5.Financial Support-Different types of scholarships , Book Bank Scheme and personal help from staff members provide financial support to the students.

6.Social Outreach Activities-The college has trained its students to be enlightened and responsible citizens. The NSS volunteers, Rangering Students constantly engage in social service activities. During Pandemic students were engaged in social activities like- distribution of masks and sanitizers, spreading awareness about the disease and preventive measures .The Anandam Project taught students the joy of giving and perform daily good deeds to serve society.

7.Extra Curricular Activities- Extra Curricular Activities are conducted regularly to enhance the personality of students. Different Cultural and Sports activities generate a spirit of healthy competition as well as team spirit and harmony amongst students.

8.E Content Repository- Keeping pace with the modern technology the students can now access E learning resources. During Pandemic all faculty members uploaded their lectures on their personal as well as College You Tube Channel. To make use of these video and PDF Notes in future also  a repository bank was created as Rajiv Gandhi E Content Bank ,link of which is shared on the college website .

9.Annual College Magazine: The College provides a platform for creativity and expression to all its students and staff members in its annual magazine named “Chetna”. True to its name it sparks consciousness and awareness of thoughts, feelings and sensitivity amongst all. It gives an opportunity to explore and develop the hidden potential of students and express freely.

All the above measures provide a distinctive quality to the Institute and helps in upholding its vision of enhancing professionalism, humanism and social responsibility amongst its students through these practices.
