Baba Ganga Das Govt. Girls College, Shahpura (Jaipur) was set up in the year 1997 by the Great saint 1008 Sri Sri Narayan Dasji Maharaj of Trivani Dham in the fond memory of his master’s master Sri Ganga Das ji Maharaj to give impetus to women education and their development. The foundation of the college was perceived in view of absence of any girls college in Shahpura (Jaipur) and the nearby rural areas. This college is sixty four kilometers away from Jaipur (Rajasthan) on Delhi-Jaipur National Highway No.8.The girls from nearby villages and Shahpura itself take admission in this college becauseof its regular and uninterrupted classroom teaching associated with curricular andextracurricular activities. Though the staff of college is small there are all three Facultiesat UG level. Arts Faculty at B.A. Level gives a choice of four optional subjects. EnglishLiterature as an optional subject was introduced from the session 2003-2004 under the selffinancing scheme and psychology was introduced from the session 2011-12. This Collegewas declared the best girls institutions in the Jaipur District in the year 2012-13.The keenness for the assessment and accreditation of the college is due to the fact that thepurpose of the institution could be served in better spirit. Besides getting good grades, thecollege will steadily develop with the financial aid from U.G.C.The college in set in rural area where people are quite conservative and orthodox andprefer to send their daughters to a Girls College. The girl students would not be allowed tocontinue their education in absence of a girls college. Therefore, with the availability ofmore resources in the college, the women education and women development will receivegreater impetus.The college was set out with Arts faculty. Later subjects were added at UG level and 3 PG departments.
