Introduction:-

An "Internal Complaints Committee" (ICC) is a designated body within an organization established to receive and investigate complaints of sexual harassment, providing a mechanism for aggrieved individuals to seek redress and ensuring a safe working environment free from gender-based discrimination; it is mandated by law in many jurisdictions to be formed in workplaces with a certain number of employees and must include a majority of female members, with the primary responsibility of investigating complaints, conducting inquiries, and recommending appropriate action based on findings.

• Composition:

  Typically includes a presiding officer (usually a senior woman employee), other employee members, and sometimes an external member from a relevant NGO.
• Complaint process:

  Individuals can file a written complaint with the ICC, which then initiates an investigation, gathers evidence, and interviews relevant parties.
• Confidentiality:

  The ICC is required to maintain strict confidentiality regarding complaints and identities of individuals involved.
• Legal framework:

  The formation and functioning of an ICC are often governed by specific legislation related to sexual harassment at the workplace.
