Physical health is equally important as mental health is and therefore the aim of an educational institute is justified only if it nurtures both. Sports play a significant role in the life of a person. It inculcates the spirit of sportsmanship, teaches goal setting and planning, develops the concept of winning and sharpens competitive edge. A sport not only elevates physical ability but also provides mental agility. A set of rules are always laid down for playing any sport or game and this helps in inculcating a sense of discipline within an individual. Winning or losing also gives strength to fight for success in life.
The College provides facilities for indoor as well as outdoor games. Various sports played by the students of the College include Hockey, Football, Cricket, Tennis, Volley ball, Basket ball, Kho-Kho, Kabbadi, Boxing, Wrestling, Athletics, Table tennis, Chess, Carom. Most of the students of this College although are from rural background but do well in their academics. Their performance in sports too can be confirmed by the medals won by them in different events. The students participate at different levels beginning from inter-class followed by inter-college, state level, inter- university and reach up to national level. The college has earned proud recognition in sports events and students have won individual/group medals and shields.
The Women Cell, right from its very inception in 2004, has been incessantly working to sensitize students to develop a balanced view of the various social and gender issues. The primary aim of the Cell is to provide a safe and congenial atmosphere to all the girl students in the college. Concentrating on encouraging and empowering them, lectures are organized on women related issues like their legal rights, health, hygiene and sanitation, female infanticide, the importance of girl child, girl child education, women’s rights, food and nutrition, maintenance of a clean environment, family planning, problems of child marriage, etc. During Seminars, Workshops, and lectures, they discuss, and debate in order to enhance awareness. Using a diverse range of academic and cultural activities including talks by well-known professionals with special expertise in their respective fields, the Cell makes extra efforts in creating awareness about the gender disparity prevalent in society and tries to explore and suggest ways to counter it. The Cell by organizing various intra and inter-college competitions like essay writing, poster making, quiz, debate, dramatics, etc., fosters decision-making ability in girl students by inculcating self–sufficiency and encourages self–reliance in choosing their vocations according to their own bent of minds.
The main objective of the Cell, through the conduction of such useful and relevant activities and interactive sessions is to create awareness, develop critical thinking, make the girl students conscious of their real worth as women, and create a new sensibility for the construction of a society free of all prejudices against women. All the programmes conducted by the Cell emphasize the rights of women and make them understand how they should shape themselves right from the very beginning as they are the future providers of healthy generations.
The influx of more and more girl students in the college in recent years has rendered the female students an active and expressive platform to share their diverse opinions, ideas and perspectives. During the session various activities viz. Poster Competition, Hindi Essay Competition, Rangoli, Mehandi, Solo, Group Song, and Dance were organized by the Women Cell of the College.
