HISTORY

Realizing the importance of higher education for the inclusive development of the nation, the expansion of higher education to the small towns and cities of India was aimed at. With this vision, Seth Mohan Lal Jalan Government College was established in the year 1990. The generous philanthropist Seth Shri Tola Ram Jalan in fond memory and tribute to his late father Seth Shri Mohan Lal Jalan provided the Main building of the college to the people of the Ratangarh feeling the importance of the higher education. At the time of its inception it started with arts faculty only. From there on numbers of Students and Faculties have  increased significantly. Today college is also having Commerce and Science Faculty started in the year 1991-92 and 2008-09 respectively. Thus providing with options to the student of the region to choose according to their field of interest. Presently Seth Mohan Lal Jalan  college is affiliated with Maharaja Ganga Singh University, Bikaner.

1990: Established as Degree College

1991: Faculty of Arts started at Undergraduate Level in the subjects:

           English, Hindi, History, Economics & Sociology

1991: Faculty of Commerce started at Undergraduate Level in

          Subjects– Accounts & Finance, Business Management, Banking & Financial Management

1994: Sanskrit was added to the Faculty of Arts as a core subject at U.G. level

1996: Political science was introduced at U.G. level

2000: Recognized by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi

           Under Rule 2(f) & Rule 12(B)

2008: Faculty of Science started at Undergraduate Level in the

           Subject – Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Physics & Math

2011: College webpage was launched

2013: Online Admission for UG Classes

2013: Permanent Affiliation of B.A. & B.Com.

2015: Permanent Affiliation of B.Sc. (Bio. and Math group) 

2016: Selected for grants from HRD under RUSA

2018: Geography was introduced as core subject at U.G. level under SFS

2018: Post Graduation in History (40 Seats)

2018: Post Graduation in Political Science (40 Seats)

2018: Online admissions for PG Classes 

2019: Seats increased in PG History (60 Seats) and Political Science (60 Seats)

2023: Alumni Association Registered
