BEST PRACTICES
Best Practices
1. Environment Consciousness and Sustainability
Objectives of the Practice
- To make the campus lush green.
- To sensitize, encourage, engage students, staff, stake holders towards environment sustainability. To plant medicinal, ornamental and fruit bearing trees in the college campus.
- To create environmental awareness about plastic prohibition.
- To promote conservation and sustainable use of resources.
The Context:
Rajasthan faces several environmental challenges like low rainfall and extreme climate conditions. It is necessary to recognize the centrality of environmental concerns in the development process and address these challenges strategically. State government has mandate tree plantation and plastic prohibition in colleges to conserve and enhance environmental resources.
Thus tree plantation and green campus drive by the college students ensure stability of eco-system. It also helps in conservation of soil and water, thus preventing environmental degradation Trees play a significant role in maintaining equilibrium of the environment. They protect wildlife and provides habitat to various animals. Many ecological process like soil cover, balancing green house gases, oxygen production, monsoon cycle, rainfall pattern are governed by trees. Trees diminishes the severe effects of global warming.
The Practice
The best practice of our college is to plant medicinal, ornamental, fruit bearing and shady trees in the campus and making it lush green. Students are motivated to plant saplings in the campus, wateringand taking care of them, all round the year. The purpose is to make them aware about their environment and step forward to save it. The whole area of college is landscaped with shady trees tagging it to "Green Campus". The college administration offer saplings to the guests instead of flower bouquets to promote tree plantation.
Students are also encouraged to limit energy usage by switching off electricity when not needed. Maximum use of natural light and air lower the damaging impact on theenvironment, globalwarming and climatic changes. The administration has also replaced the traditional light bulbs with LEDs of energy. The girls are made aware of reduction of green house gas emissions by reducing our use of energy, These simple acts of energy conservation can slow global warming.
Students are also steered towards "No plastic" usage Display boards are put at various places in the campus to refrain using plastic and its products. Use of Plastic is prohibited in the college to keep the area clean and green. By reducing plastic waste and plastic use, there would be a reduction in harmful carbon dioxide emissions that warms the planet. It also prevent pollution by lessening the amount of raw materials used as Single Use Plastic bag takes up to 1000 years to decompose because it contain non, renewable petro chemicals and damage mother nature drastically, therefore everybody is directed to follow 3R's, Reduce. Reuse and recycle plastic in the college. Students are encouraged to use steel bottles and tiffin boxes, paper and cloth bags and discourage use of polythene, plastic bottles and disposables in the campus.
Evidence Of Success
The college campus is covered with various ornamental, medicinal fruit bearing and shady. trees, herbs and shrubs. Students of NSS participate actively in the tree plantation drive. The campus is enriched with variety of plant species. Many trees are tagged with their botanical as well as common names. Saplings are protected by tree guards to give them a safe environment. As a result of tree plantation drive, the quality of air in the campus is very good. Also there is improvement in soil and water conservation.
HaritVatika is also developed in the campus which has many fruit bearing plants as well as medicinal plants. Fencing has been laid down to safeguard the saplings. Here natural ecosystem is being established by rejuvenating biodiversity over the past 20 years.
Problems Encountered And Resources Required :
- The major problem encountered in making the campus green is the presence of termite in the soil which does not allow the plant to grow. Anti-termite treatment is done in the soil to make the saplings grow adequately. Many large trees have died due to termites in the soil.
- The college campus does not have proper boundary wall therefore grazing animals enter the campus and ruin the saplings. Temporary fencing has been done by barbed wires but animals make their way through it and eat the plants. Tree guards have also been put to ensure safe environment to grow.
- In rainy season, due to poor drainage, the water stagnates, in the campus for many days resulting in swamps and hindering the growth of saplings.

2. Efficient Implementation Of Course Curricula To The Deprived Girls Of Society
Objectives of the Practice
- To ensure the completion of curriculum, offered by the university, on time, to the deprived girls of society.
- To upgrade the knowledge of girls belonging to the deprived and financially weaker section of society.
- To monitor the implementation of course curriculum through effective feedback.
- To ensure the preparation of monthly lesson plan by the faculty members so as to transfer the knowledge in a planned and efficient manner.
- To test the subsequent upgradation of knowledge by regular monthly tests and assignments
The Context
The primary objective of our college is the effective implementation of course curriculum. This becomes more challenging when the stake holders are from weaker section of society. To bring such girls at par, a process involving competent and dedicated teachers, adequate study materials, lesson plan has been evolved. This helps in improving employability by upgrading the technical and nontechnical skills of the socially
The Practice
The practice of efficient implementation of curriculum to the deprived girls of society is done in the following manner:
- The curriculum of science(Bio, Maths) ,humanities and commerce streams are planned and prescribed by the M.D.S. university well ahead in time.
- Academic calendar with extracurricular activities are followed strictly as it enhances the all-round development of girls.
- Regular attendance of the students is maintained in the register which is audited quarterly by the Dean, and head of the institution. Names of the girls with low attendance are exhibited on the notice board as warning and later detained from the examination.
- Girls belonging by the rural background are updated with extra knowledge by e-lectures Girls also get the opportunity of representing their issues directly to the minister of higher education through video conferencing.
- Syllabus completion statements are submitted to the dean by all faculty members to ensure timely completion of syllabus.
- Extra classes are taken so as to make the girls understand and revise the syllabus thoroughly before exam.
- Fair evaluation of answer books of monthly exams and assignment are done and shown to the girls so as to improved their performance.
- ACR (Annual confidential Report) is submitted annually by all the faculty members to the head of the institution as self-appraisal providing detailed information of the contribution made toward the development of the institution. Also, the result of students is highlighted in this report.
Evidence Of Success:
- Academic calendar followed in the institution, has a balance of all type of engagements in which girls are expected to participate in.
- Beside traditional lectures, smart class room lectures are also delivered for audio visual support to make the implementation of curriculum more effective and interesting.
- Academic records of higher pass percentage are achieved by the students. Names of meritorious girls are exhibited on the board in campus.
- lectures under Y.D.C. (Youth Development Centre) are delivered by the eminent scholars. College time-table efficiently deploys the units of time for theory and practical classes thereby ensuring effective implementation of curriculum.
- Class tests and internal assignments comprise the formal evaluative process .
- Number of Students taking admission in the college are increasing every year.
- Under IDEA( Inter Disciplinary Education Association) teachers and students of different faculty ( Arts and commerce ) interacted with each other to understand the subjects, fields and thoughts..
- In Faculty exchange process of DRAC ( District Resource Assistance Committee). teachers of other colleges were deputed in our college to teach students against zero post and our teachers were deputed to other colleges for this purpose.
Problem Encountered And Resources Required:
The following problem are encountered in this practice:
- The university curriculum has been same since years and was not been updated.
- Need based education and vocational education in the curriculum has not been given much importance as there is only subject centered curriculum
- Curriculum does not have any courses related to up gradation of values to make the students more socially responsible. Defined course curriculum in value education is much needed.
- In the subject based curriculum, girls do not learn about the perspective of one discipline relating to another.
