Kota is located along eastern bank of the Chambal River in the southern part of Rajasthan state and 240 km south of the state capital Jaipur. It is the Third largest city of Rajasthan after Jaipur and Jodhpur. The cartographic co-ordinates are 25.180 N to 75.830 E. It covers an area of 202.5 Km2 and has an average elevation of 271 meters. Population of the city is 10, 01,365 (year 2011) with a population density of 318/Km2 and a sex ratio of 912. Climate is semiarid, temperature ranging from 450 C in summers to 50 C in winters and annual rainfall of 680.6 mm. Government College Kota is situated in the Nayapura area of Kota city. The college imparts education in Science faculty and has an enviable enrolment of more than 2500 students who are pursuing Graduation, Post Graduation and Research courses like M.Phil. and Ph.D. The college boasts of an intellectual team of close to 60 members with a unique gender balance skewed in the favour of the women faculty members. |
